Due to an ever
increasing number of whitetail hunters from
across the country seeking his advice, Don
Higgins has started a consulting service.
Don's track record of harvesting mature
whitetail bucks with a bow speaks for
itself, but what many fail to realize is the
decades of work, effort, and learning that
brought Don to the point where he can
consistently tag bucks of this caliber. Don
has spent over 3 decades hunting the “real
world”. Along the way, he was able to
acquire and develop his own hunting property
and also helped a number of friends improve
the habitat and hunting conditions on their
properties. He even started a business which
is geared towards habitat improvement
projects. (see
www.higginstrees.com)
Now is your chance to
put that experience to work for you by
actually having Don walk your property and
make detailed suggestions on how he would
develop and hunt it if he were the owner. He
will cover a wide variety of topics
including - foodplot locations and suggested
crops, creating sanctuaries, tree plantings
for food and cover, improving the existing
cover, stand locations with entrance and
exit routes considered, as well as other
advice to help you harvest the biggest bucks
possible from your property.
To get started, Don will ask you a few
questions about your property and the type
of terrain which dominates your area. If he
does not feel confident that he can offer
you sound advice, he will not waste your
money or time. Don's whitetail experience
has been primarily in the farm country of
the Midwest, and this is where this service
will prove most valuable. You will be asked
to mail him an aerial photo of your property
before meeting so that he can focus in on a
plan to help you get the most from your time
with him on your property. When he shows up,
he will have some ideas in mind, but will
consider what he sees firsthand to either
reinforce those ideas, or alter them. The
final hunting and habitat plan for your
property will be detailed in a folder for
your reference. Consulting visits are done
in January, February, and March. Book early
to ensure availability. Prices start at $1000
and vary by acreage and travel distance.
